Kyra Parliman is a caretaker to a piece of Millville’s history. She became the owner and operator of Colonial Florist and Gifts in August 2023. A Millville landmark – Colonial is 50 years in operation. Born and raised in Millville, Kyra fell in love with Colonial the first time she visited, as a seven-year-old girl. “I thought this place was amazing,” she recalls. It also inspired a lifelong love of flowers. “I studied floriculture in high school and it only furthered my love of flowers.” Working at different flower shops during her college years, starting with Colonial, allowed her to see what worked best in the industry and come back and make it her own. “It’s all come full circle” she says. In addition to flowers, Colonial’s large shop is filled with interesting gifts and crafts, from candles to jewelry, wood carvings and more. Many are one of a kind, created by local craftspeople and the selection changes with the seasons. Kyra takes a lot of pride in meeting each customer’s individual needs. “Almost all our bouquets are unique, personalized for the occasion,” she says. Colonial’s customers are from all over Cumberland County, Bridgeton to Port Norris, and in between. “They love the originality and how we keep everything updated, seasonal and fresh.”
